What Our 24/7 Support Entails

Orion's trained caregivers assist residents with:

  • Daily living activities like bathing, dressing, hygiene

  • Mobility around the home and in/out of bed

  • Medication management and coordination of medical care

  • Meals, nutrition, and therapeutic diets

  • Meaningful social & recreational activities

  • Transportation for appointments, outings & family visits

  • And any other personalized care needs

We get to know each resident deeply so we can preserve independence whenever possible while standing ready to lend more involved support as needed. Open communication allows our staff to make adjustments smoothly when needs change.

24/7 Staffing: More Than Just "Supervision"

Our around-the-clock model is integral for consistent care, safety, and comfort. However, our staff do far more than "supervise." Our specialists take a genuine interest in understanding residents' likes, dislikes, goals, and challenges so we can encourage personal growth and fulfillment.

We see ourselves as partners, working alongside residents and their loved ones. Our LCSWs, counselors, RNs, and direct care staff coordinate as a team to carry out individualized treatment plans day and night.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about our 24-hour staff supervision.

What types of professionals are on-site overnight?

Our overnight teams include direct care staff, licensed RNs, and resident assistants. An administrator or director is also always on call.

What happens if my loved one needs urgent medical attention?

Resident wellness is monitored continually. If an issue arises, our RN will conduct an assessment and determine whether emergency services are required. We would then transport the resident to the ER, notify the family immediately, and assign staff to accompany them throughout the process.

Is there someone there 24/7 that my loved one knows and trusts?

Absolutely. Orion homes each have their consistent care teams made up of familiar faces. We thoughtfully cross-train across homes as well, so extra staff are available anytime a regular caregiver needs time off.

What activities happen overnight vs. during the day?

Overnights are generally less structured and have more downtime for relaxation, TV, light snacks, etc. We encourage natural sleep cycles but have activities available for those awake. Some may also require overnight assistance with toileting, mobility, or turning while in bed.

What specific training does your overnight staff receive?

All Orion staff undergo robust training in safety protocols, de-escalation, crisis intervention, medication administration, and specialized diagnoses. Overnight teams receive additional training for lower stimulation engagement and supporting sleep health. We continually refresh our skills.

How are residents' preferences/needs communicated across shift changes?

Orion caregivers pass along critical information across shift changes - we call this "reporting." Each team shares updates on health changes, mood, activities, upcoming needs, and more regarding those in their care. This keeps continuity of care seamless.

We encourage families to ask any other questions about our around-the-clock services! Orion Homes provides more than just supervision - we empower residents to achieve their highest level of independence in a safe, caring environment.
